A Sunday State of Mind is the cornerstone of Our Sunday Table editorial, and is our tribute to the Italian saying, "La Dolce Vita" or "the sweet life", and brings forward the modern lifestyle, music and decor that embraces the saying.

As the summer starts to wind down and back to school is approaching, those late August Sundays start to bring on the feeling of a calmer and cooler Autumn. There is nothing better than winding down the week on a Sunday afternoon underneath the shade with the perfect playlist, a chilled glass of wine or non-alcoholic beer and a board of meats, cheeses and veggies to close out the weekend…and maybe even a little nap to help prepare for the week ahead.
This particular series, The Auditory Table, is inspired by those moments where music is the background to some of our creator’s favorite moments. Perhaps you remember in one of your favorite films where food and music created a connection that brings you closer to the scene, or walking into a red sauce joint in Los Angeles where Frank Sinatra is playing as you are being seated or maybe it brings you back to your grandparents kitchen when you were a kid and the Sunday sauce is being prepared to “Sì, mi chiamano Mimì”, from La Boheme. Wherever you were in that moment, the song and the smell of the food take you right back.
The same thing goes for the sounds of summer…all of us have a list of favorite songs that bring us right back to that memory in time as if it existed today. The feeling that music can deliver to the soul is like nothing else…except maybe food. With the summer winding down, our first playlist is titled “A 1960’s Summer” and will feature songs from movies and soundtracks that take you right back to the old neighborhood…and what a better way to enjoy it than with a classic Italian American style Antipasto! .
